Luc Chatel
PRESIDENT OF THE FRENCH AUTOMOBILE PLATFORM (PFA)
He began his career in the corporate world, as Marketing Director and then as Human Resources Director in the L’Oréal group.
Elected as a Member of Parliament in 2002, he held various government positions from 2007 to 2012, successively as Minister for Industry and Consumer Affairs, and also as Government Spokesperson, then as Minister for National Education, Youth and Associations.
In charge of Industry at the time of the 2008-2010 global crisis, he led the Etats-Généraux de l'Automobile, prepared and led the Automotive Pact signed on 9 February 2009 by the President of the Republic in the context of a sector hit hard by the crisis.
Retired from political life since May 2017, he has been a partner at Ekkio Capital since 1 July 2017 and has chaired Odyssey Education since 2020.
On 4 December 2017, he was appointed President of the Automotive Platform (PFA), which brings together the automotive industry in France. In this capacity, on 22 May 2018, he signed the Strategic Contract for the Automotive Industry with the government, which makes the automotive industry a major player in the energy and ecological transition. Through this Contract, the industry is committed to increasing sales of electric vehicles fivefold by 2022 and to creating a competitive French hydrogen industry.
