He is a multi-skilled merchant navy officer, and has commanded various types of ships, as far away as Antarctica. This professional sailor has also been on the racing podium for 10 years, in the Route du Rhum, the Jacques Vabre transatlantic race and the Québec-St Malo. During one of these transatlantic races, when his diesel generator broke down in the middle of the Atlantic, unable to drive his machine even though he was surrounded by solar, wind and water power, Victorien realised that the most beautiful victories are those that make sense.

He decided to invest in the race for energy intelligence rather than trophies by creating Energy Observer, the first zero-emission ship powered by renewable energy and green hydrogen. By sailing around the world for 5 years in total autonomy and without pollution, Energy Observer is opening the way to multiple land and sea applications.
