Pierre-André de Chalendar
PRESIDENT OF SAINT GOBAIN
Since taking over as Chairman of Saint Gobain in 2010, he has worked to transform the Group into a leader in urban housing renovation and sustainable construction.
In 2015, during the COP21 in Paris, he was one of the first CAC40 executives to display his commitment and his Group's responsibility in the major climate issues and proposed solutions for the construction sector to reduce CO2 emissions.
He then published Our fight for the climate. A decarbonised and growing world is possible, published by Le Passeur, in which he sets out his vision of a committed company and his conviction that a decarbonised world is compatible with sustainable economic growth and human development.
During Climate Week in 2019, he committed Saint-Gobain to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.
In 2021, a few months before COP26 in Glasgow, he published The urban challenge. Rediscovering the desire to live in a city" published by Odile Jacob, in which he redefines an urban model that favours social inclusion and places all innovative projects within a participatory logic. According to him, the "sustainable city" is one where nature and the city are no longer in conflict, where mobility is fluid and carbon-free, and where buildings provide comfort and health to live better, together.
