Philippe-Henri Mangeard
FOUNDER OF GLOBAL CLIMATE INITIATIVE
He is an agricultural engineer, and has been involved in the ecological transition since 1999, when he created Modalohr and the concept of rail motorways. After two successful openings, he created in 2007 the “Cercle pour l’Optimodalité en Europe”, with the aim of encouraging new, more eco-responsible freight transport projects (for example : alternative energies - BioFuel, BioGas).
The adoption of the Grenelle 2 Law, which requires the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions, led to the creation of TK'Blue, a transport environmental footprint rating agency, in 2012. This agency offers transporters and their customers the opportunity to calculate the emissions of their operations precisely, to have tools to reduce them and to carry out the required reporting.
COP 21 underlines the imperative need for everyone - individuals, companies and communities - to do their part in the fight to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The first essential step is to measure its impact, which requires a simple, comprehensive and inexpensive tool to be shared by all. To this end, Philippe Mangeard launched his teams in 2016 to create Global Climate Initiatives (GCI), the first platform for calculating and reducing GHG emissions for any type of company or community, of any size. The objective is simple: to desacralise and democratise the GHG assessment and thus enable hundreds of thousands of actors to participate in the necessary reduction of GHG emissions. GCI was launched in 2020. The LCL bank, the FIA, the Tour de France, the Medef, and dozens of small and medium-sized businesses, ETIs and large groups adopted GCI, which is now promoted throughout France and in a dozen countries, from Asia to the Americas.
