Caroline Cayeux
MAYOR OF BEAUVAIS, PRESIDENT OF THE NATIONAL AGENCY FOR TERRITORIAL COHESION (ANCT) AND PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERATION OF FRENCH CITIES
A lawyer by training, she was a member of Yvon Bourges' law firm from 1970 to 1972. She holds a degree in English and a Master's degree in law, and also has an advanced diploma in private international law.
As a teacher, she began by working with children in difficulty before teaching law and English in a technical high school for several years. She continued her career by managing an Institute of Marketing and Communication from 1980 to 1990, and then a professional training and postgraduate organisation until 1995.
National delegate of the Rassemblement Pour la République (RPR), she was in charge of the organisation for the national secretary of the federations, then in 1998 in charge of the relations with the federations for the local elections. She was departmental secretary of the RPR in Oise until 2002.
In 2001, for the first time as a candidate in municipal elections in a town of more than 30,000 inhabitants, Caroline Cayeux was elected Mayor of Beauvais, then re-elected in 2008 and 2014. Seeking a 4th term in 2020, she was re-elected in the 1st round.
She is President of the Communauté d'Agglomération du Beauvaisis, President of the association Villes de France since 19 June 2014 and President of the Agence Nationale de la Cohésion des Territoires since 12 December 2019.
Caroline Cayeux was Regional Councillor for Picardy from 2002 to 2011 and Senator for Oise from 2011 to 2017.
She is a Knight of the Legion of Honour and an Officer of the National Order of Merit.
