Alain Chrétien
PRESIDENT OF THE URBAN COMMUNITY OF VESOUL AND MAYOR OF VESOUL
Alain Chrétien is the mayor of Vesoul (since 2012) and president of the Communauté d'Agglomération de Vesoul (since 2004).
Committed to ecology, he wants to make Vesoul the first natural town in Burgundy Franche-Comté by acting, in particular, on renewable energy and sustainable mobility.
To this end, the new developments in the town centre are organised around soft modes of transport with a vast plan to create cycle paths and cycle parking facilities. A carpooling plan will also be put in place to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. On a day-to-day basis, the local authority also wants to set an example by using biogas to power the buses and household waste bins of the .agglomeration.
Vesoul combines ecology and economy with the modernisation of public lighting, aid for energy saving work and the reuse of rainwater by the green spaces department.
Alain Chrétien has also set up an environmental council for young people, with a dedicated annual budget, in order to mobilise them on concrete projects for nature.
