2021 TRANSITION FORUM HIGHLIGHTS
The fourth edition of the TRANSITION FORUM concluded with
a clear message : it is time to co-operate !
Held this year on September 30 and October 1 in Nice, the TRANSITION FORUM brought together more than 1,200 international participants: innovators, investors, public and private decision-makers, entrepreneurs, leading researchers and civil society figures from all sectors.
More than 20 live-streamed sessions saw some 90 speakers discuss the challenges and opportunities for scaling up climate action and making commitments. More than 300,000 followed the discussions online.
This fourth edition of the forum, entitled “Time to co-operate”, was dedicated to the development of new forms of cooperation that contribute to the ecological and energy transition, in a context of European economic recovery and of implementation of the Green Deal.
“We have 10 to 20 years to achieve carbon neutrality. The stakes are enormous. The investments will be colossal. This is why we need to bring together public and private decision-makers to find solutions, operating methods and financing methods that will enable us to meet these challenges”
Lionel le Maux

Discover the four main themes
Mobility
Deploying new mobilities in the territories
Challenging polluting modes of transport, development of alternative energies, émergence of new mobilities… change is happening.
Reflection on the challenge of rapidly deploying innovative, low-carbon transport solutions in cities and between territories, which must be met by public and private decision-makers.
Food
Supporting the shift from production-based agriculture to sustainable agriculture
Many of the sustainability issues facing our planet are directly or indirectly linked to food production. A profound transformation of agri-food systems is needed to feed a growing world population while reducing the impact on the environment.
Reflection on the challenges and levers of the agricultural and food transition in Europe.
Housing
Adapting cities to the challenges of the ecological transition
Urbanisation combined with global population growth is expected to add an additional 2.5 billion people in urban areas by 2050. As a result, cities and territories will be under increasing pressure to meet the housing, infrastructure, energy and basic social service needs of their inhabitants in a sustainable manner.
Reflection on the challenges and opportunities for investment in sustainable and decarbonized urban development.
Production & Consumption
Producing and consuming in a resource-efficient way
It is imperative that we reduce our ecological footprint by changing the way we produce and consume goods and resources. The entire chain, from production to distribution, needs to be rethought to achieve this. In particular, the imperatives of a circular economy must be integrated from the outset.
Reflection on the actions needed to déployer a circular and resource-saving economy.
